Sometimes, a client comes along with the most outrageously awesome wedding flower brief, and Giovanna was one of these clients. With her background in hotels and growing up on the Atherton Tablelands, where fresh produce is abundant, she wanted to incorporate this as a key element in her florals for the day. After chatting with her for some time, I was certain this wedding was going to be amazing. Set on her parents' property on the Atherton Tablelands, it was going to be an epic celebration with beloved family and friends, featuring lots of wonderful food.
The color palette for the day was "Orange, Lemon, Claret, Olive leaf with a pop of Dried Cotton," and the vibe was "Bountiful and bold seasonal flowers, foliages, fruits, and vegetables."
For Giovanna’s bouquet, we included lots of textures and stems of cotton to add a little link to the farming on the tablelands, and also because this was a favorite of hers. Not to be outdone, our groom, Dan, wore a pocket square created from flowers from the bride’s bouquet.
The rest of the styling focused on the reception; this was to be a place to celebrate with family and friends and enjoy the most delicious homemade delicacies. On the tables, we placed only a few pops of color with simple bud vases of blooms. This was because we wanted all attention to be focused on the dessert and food bars.
Citrus fruit was a key element in the two large designs on the food stations, and for the smaller design, we focused on just lemons and limes, keeping it a bit more low-key.
For the larger floral sculpture set in the middle of the marquee on the dessert bar, this was to be the focal point of the entire room, a place to create WOW. This design included homegrown citrus, mixed flowers, dried cotton, and a few sneaky vegetables.
Your wedding day should be a reflection of your personality and the things you love in your life. It doesn’t have to follow a particular trend that you are seeing on social media. When planning your styling for the day, think about all the things you love and work with a team that gets this vision and will help you bring it to life.
Thanks Giovanna and Dan for asking me to be a part of your very special day.
